That isn't a popular opinion. It's a virtual guarantee that Matthews would have went over Eichel.

I've read many saying the opposite. Having Mcdavid still being the clear number one. But Mathews being the 2nd and Echiel being 3rd.

Either way imagine that draft. It would of been the most stacked top 3 ever.

Firing Boudreau was asinine, I agree! At least he's still getting paid the rest of his contract, fired or not. Ottawa should do every thing in their power to get him on board.

serioulsy, congrats to the Leafs but I have not heard so many fans all of sudden proclaiming he is better than Eichel. He has always been put on parr with Eichel but now (not even have played in the NHL ) is better just because he is going to the Leafs?

i like what the Leafs are doing. they are finally doing it the right way. but all these blogs read like Oiler copy from 4 years ago. The idea that the Leafs are on the verge of contending is ludicrous. Still 5 to 6 years away.

To be fair I've been hearing he's above Echiel before the leafs won the lottery. You are just hearing it now that there's much more hype.

Everyone is entilted to there own opinions sure. But many are saying it to troll. I would probably be saying it too if the habs won the lottery.

I think they'll be pretty close to each other. McDavid is a class above. As long as Matthews helps the team achieve its goals, I don't care whether Eichel or Matthews is better

I think they'll be pretty close to each other. McDavid is a class above. As long as Matthews helps the team achieve its goals, I don't care whether Eichel or Matthews is better

Really crazy. The Leafs have never had a prospect system to speak of, now they have multiple blue chip players. It really does evoke a sensation of unreality when considering it.

I can't even imagine being in the playoffs for a round or two, a few years in a row. That would blow my (frank)ing mind.
